We are at the time between times.
Jesus is born. Santa has flown. The longest night has been vanquished. Spring beckons.
We embrace a chance to facilitate change with the celebration of a new year.
As a free range, cage free pastor…change is the most likely catalyst for shared purpose. Lives are always in a state of flux and that is when folks engage support and encouragement.
If this last week was any measure of the breadth of service and support, you can understand the challenges that remain fairly constant throughout the year.
…facilitated an album, recorded and mastered, for an old friend who’s mother is dying.
…connected three musicians for a song writing project for the coming year.
…had meals with young artists striving to build a musical community while on tour, a father and son sharing the holidays, a young engaged couple who asked me to perform their wedding, etc.
…had conversations with families that had lost loved ones, were in the midst of losing a loved one or were remembering folks they lost and missed.
…encouraged old friends who are wrestling with holidays, divorce and family connection.
Few of these folks have church connections. Few actually want church connections. Yet, they are open to being supported, loved and heard. It’s a privilege to be available for them.
Unbound by anything other than the command to love creates a framework of acceptance that opens doors without expectation. Grace allows, covers, engages and supports without a desire for control or coerced change.
Individuals gathered in love and acceptance become a synergistic force of blessings to all embraced…both in giving and receiving, gathered and scattered.
For those of you who have supported what unfolds via Inner Anvil Ministries. Thank you from the deepest realm of my heart.
